Monochrome

it was one of those days…
you know, when the sun is hidden by the clouds, and the moon too–
it was one of those nights.
the unbearable pain, existence as we call it, took turns,
coming/going, as it pleased, and it hurt; but not as pain usually did.
it was different this time. usually, pain cuts as a knife:
goes in/goes out. you learn the pattern and you survive.

this was different!
it beat against your ribs just like heart does
but it wasn’t at the place where heart is
it was underneath.

it was one of those days…
you know, when you tap your fingers on the table
and no sound comes out;
when you hear people calling your name
talk to you, and you see just white.
not even noise, nothing!
just plain-plain white.

it was one of those days…
you know, when you feel like poetry in you has died.
the words try to come out of you
but they’re too pure, too good for you…
unable to translate them, you get stuck.

it was one of those days…
you know, when you clutch your hand into a fist
bump it against the teeth in your mouth
and hope to survive…

it was one of those days, my friend,
and I promised,
this will be my last.
