My crown

And I held you,
like an old king
his crown once held.
I held you high
and with great care
on top of my head
afraid,
that in my arms you’d break!
I held you,
and fend off for you
demons, and humans
all the same.
But you never thanked me;
Not that it mattered,
not that I cared,
to me it was all the same
as long as you rested there,
safe, on top of my head.

Until they cut you,
and cutting you
they cut my head.
